Many betting options are offered for baseball, and most depend on the listed starting pitchers throwing the first pitch for their teams!
In this example, the Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher is Marco Estrada. They are favoured by 1.5 runs, since they have the "-" in front of their runline (pointspread). This means that they will need to win the game by more than 1.5 runs in order for the bet to win. The price of 2.20 means that for every $1.00 placed on a winning bet, you will receive a payout of $2.20. The Kansas City Royals are the underdog, as indicated by the "+" in front of their runline, and their starting pitcher is Johnny Cueto. As the underdog, a bet on their runline will be a win if they either win the game or lose by less than 1.5 runs. Their price is 1.71, so for each $1.00 placed on a winning bet, the payout will be $1.71.
The moneyline is a simple bet on who will win the game, regardless of the margin of victory, and the prices work in the same way as the runline prices.
The over/under takes into account the total runs scored by both teams together. For example, a final score of 4-3 would mean a total of 7 runs scored. In our example, this would mean a win for bets placed on "Under +8.0", since less than 8 runs were scored in total. If the total lands exactly on the over/under, then all bets are voided and refunded. The prices for over/under also work in the same way as the runline prices.

One of the key differences that sets baseball betting apart from other sports is the listing of starting pitchers. Since they have such a large effect on the outcome of the game, all runline (pointspread) and over/under bets (as well as many other types of bets), will only have action if both listed starting pitchers each throw the first pitch for their respective teams. Moneyline bets selected with "action" will continue to have action if there is a change in one or both of the starting pitchers, while those selected without "action" will be voided and refunded.
The game must go 9 innings for bets on runline or over/under to count (or 8 ½ if the home team is ahead). The game must go to the losing team's 5th inning at least for bets on moneyline to count (or 4 ½ innings should a game be called in the bottom of the 5th and the home team is ahead). If a game is called or suspended after that time, the score will be determined after the last full inning of play.
