What is a Moneyline bet?

A moneyline bet is on who will win the game, irrespective of the pointspread.

Green Bay Packers +130

New York Giants -145

In the above example, the minus (-) sign in front of the price means that the New York Giants are the favourites in this particular game. The -145 means that the bettor will win $100 for every $145 bet if his or her bet wins. If the Giants win the game, a bettor with a $10 bet gets a return of $16.90 – the original $10 stake, and $6.90 profit.

The plus (+) sign in front of the price means that the Green Bay Packers are the underdog in this game. A successful bettor will win $130 for every $100 bet. If Green Bay wins the game, a better with a $10 bet gets a return of $23 – the original $10 stake, and $13 profit.
